If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or about to breast feed, the safest choice is to drink no alcohol at all.
There is no known safe amount of alcohol to drink in pregnancy.
Drinking alcohol while pregnant can impact the baby’s development and increase the risk of lifelong problems, including Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
FASD is a brain injury that can occur when an unborn baby is exposed to alcohol. It is a lifelong disorder with effects that include physical, mental, behavioural and learning disabilities.
FASD is a preventable disorder and reaffirms the risks of drinking alcohol while pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Whenever in doubt, seek advice from your medical practitioner.
